About ourselves
Jessica and I (John) come from sunny Portugal, a coastal European country known for its rich variety of food and incredible beaches.
Jessica's father and brother live in the Azores, which is a remote group of islands on the coast of Portugal. Their access to specific goods and services is limited.
Jessica's bother, Bernardo, was born with type 1 diabetes.
One day, as he was playing, he accidentally broke the protective cover of his glucose tracking device, which is wrapped around his arm.
Suddenly, Bernado's father stopped receiving his son's glucose level on his phone, he got worried.
He sprinted to school to check on his son. Fortunately, everything was ok with Bernado.
Getting a new cover was no easy task, they had to buy a new device altogether, which is very expensive. And, it would take 2 months to arrive.
Jessica's father knew we had a 3D printer, so he asked us to help. We sketched the cover with CAD and printed it.
They loved it! Now, little Bernardo can go everywhere and his father can rest at ease.
